How procurement works in Canada

01
Quote

Tell us tonnage, project preference and budget. You get a quote showing the per-tonne price and the total, with the methodology and registry named so your reviewers can check them before you commit.

02
Purchase order and invoice

Raise a purchase order against the quote. We invoice on net-30 terms for eligible accounts, and nothing is bought or retired until the invoice is settled — so there is no exposure on either side before payment.

03
Retirement, certificate and report

Each line is retired in your company name and produces its own certificate. Lines can be split across cost centres without splitting the invoice, and each one appears in the ESG report under its own department.

Volume pricing in Canada

Per-tonne pricing comes from the live catalogue. A large order can be split across methodologies and across departments without splitting the invoice, so a blended portfolio stays one purchase order and one payment.

Buyers in Canada are charged in CAD — your own currency, so the figure you are quoted is the figure that reaches your statement. No conversion happens at our end, and your bank adds no non-CAD fee.

Engineered removal — biochar, mineralisation, direct air capture — sits at the top of the range. It costs materially more because it is harder to do and lasts materially longer, which is why a blended portfolio is priced line by line rather than averaged.

Business centres in Canada

Where your operations sit does not change how a credit is retired — a retirement is a registry entry, not a location. It does change the emissions you are reporting, so these are the largest centres in Canada for reference.

Disclosure and compliance in Canada

Canada operates federal and provincial carbon pricing. Under every major disclosure standard, voluntary credits are reported separately from gross emissions rather than netted off them — the EU CSRD is explicit about it, requiring documentation of quality, additionality and permanence. Keep the retirement records: that separation is what an auditor checks.

Cost centres and ESG reporting

A multi-department order is a single purchase order and a single invoice with one line per cost centre. Each line retires separately and gets its own certificate, and the per-cost-centre ESG report exports to CSV and PDF — dated by the registry confirmation rather than by payment, because that is the date an auditor will ask about.

Carbon credits in Canada: common questions

How much do carbon credits cost in Canada?

From C$16 per tonne of CO2e. What a portfolio costs depends mostly on how much durable removal sits inside it: nature-based avoidance is materially cheaper than engineered removal, and a blend is priced line by line rather than as a single average.

Can we pay by invoice on net-30 terms?

Yes, for business accounts with a complete tax profile that meet the per-currency minimum. Nothing is purchased or retired until an administrator confirms the invoice is paid, so the retirement date on your certificate always follows the payment rather than the order.

Can one order cover several departments?

Yes. A business order is a parent with one line per cost centre. Each line retires on its own and gets its own certificate, while the invoice and purchase order stay single — and the ESG report groups the results by cost centre for reporting.

How do we report retired credits in Canada?

Report gross emissions and retired credits separately, never netted. Under the EU CSRD, carbon credits carry their own disclosure with documentation of quality, additionality and permanence. Our export carries the registry serial for every retirement, which is the evidence that supports the claim.

Do you have an office in Canada?

BuyCarbonOffsets.org is an online platform operated by Agochar Tech LLP from Rajkot, India. We do not have an office in Canada. Quoting, invoicing, retirement and support are all handled online, and we would rather say so than imply a local presence we do not have.

Which standards do the credits meet?

Verra (VCS) and Gold Standard, with Puro.earth for engineered removal. Where a credit carries the ICVCM Core Carbon Principles label the catalogue says so explicitly, because that label is the difference between a credit an auditor accepts and one they question.

What is the minimum order?

There is no minimum for card payment. Invoice terms carry a per-currency minimum, which is shown at checkout when you select them rather than discovered afterwards, along with the eligibility rules for your account type.

Can we get an audit trail?

Every retirement has a registry serial, a sequential certificate number and a public verification page. The ESG report exports a whole year by cost centre as CSV or PDF, with each row dated by the registry confirmation rather than by when it was paid for.
