Important context about carbon credits, environmental claims, estimates, and the limits of what we can guarantee.
1. General information only
The information on BuyCarbonOffsets.org (operated by Agochar Tech LLP) is provided for general information and is not professional, legal, financial, accounting, or environmental-compliance advice. While we work to keep it accurate and up to date, we make no warranty that it is complete or error-free, and you should obtain independent advice before relying on it for regulatory or reporting purposes.
2. We are a reseller, not a registry
We are a carbon-credit aggregator and reseller. We do not issue, originate, validate, or verify carbon credits, and we do not operate a registry or develop projects. We source verified credits from established marketplaces, exchanges, and developers; curate them; and retire them on the source registry on your behalf. The integrity of each credit ultimately rests with the issuing registry, the project developer, and the independent auditors and ratings agencies involved.
3. Environmental claims
A purchase funds verified climate action and the permanent retirement of the corresponding credits. It supports an honest contribution claim — it does not make you, your event, product, or organisation "carbon neutral", "net zero", or "climate positive", and we do not certify any such status. Reducing your own emissions should always come first; offsetting addresses what you cannot yet eliminate. You are responsible for ensuring any public claim you make is accurate and compliant with the advertising and consumer-protection rules in your jurisdiction.
4. Calculator & footprint estimates
Our carbon calculator and any footprint figures shown are directional estimates based on third-party emission factors (UK DESNZ, Ember, and Our World in Data). They are intended to help you choose how much to offset and are not audited or guaranteed. For audit-grade or regulatory reporting, a full inventory should be prepared with a qualified adviser.
5. Project performance & permanence
Carbon projects carry inherent risks, including over-estimation of benefits, reversal (for example, a protected forest later being damaged), and changes in methodology or registry status. We curate conservatively — screening against the ICVCM Core Carbon Principles and independent ratings — but we cannot guarantee the future performance, permanence, or continued integrity of any project, and we are not liable for the subsequent re-assessment or debunking of a project by third parties after a credit has been retired.
6. Not financial or investment advice
Carbon credits sold through the Service are purchased for the purpose of retirement (permanent cancellation) on your behalf — not as an investment, security, or tradable asset for you. We do not offer credits as a financial product, make no representation about their resale or market value, and provide no investment, tax, or financial advice. Retired credits cannot be resold or transferred.
7. Third-party links & content
The Service may link to third-party websites and registry records that we do not control. We provide these for convenience and verification and are not responsible for their content, accuracy, or availability. Registry verification pages are operated by the registries themselves.
8. Sustainable Development Goals
Where a project is described as contributing to one or more of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, that reflects the project's own documentation and the registry record, and describes the project — not this Service and not you. The Sustainable Development Goals icons are used for informational purposes only. The content of this website and of the documents we issue has not been approved by the United Nations and does not reflect the views of the United Nations or its officials or Member States.
9. Limitation of liability
Nothing in this disclaimer limits liability that cannot be limited by law. Otherwise, your use of the Service and reliance on its content is at your own risk, and our liability is limited as set out in our Terms of Service.
